Easter Events in Des Moines 2024

It’s time to get egg-cited thanks to Easter events in Des Moines celebrating all things spring, sunshine and, of course, sweet treats.

March 23: Glowtastic Egg Hunt

Des Moines

Hosted by the Des Moines Children’s Museum, this special after-hours Easter event features a glow-in-the-dark ongoing egg hunt, delicious cotton candy and a few special surprises along the way. Best of all, event-goers can enjoy the museum’s regular exhibits as well. The Easter event in Des Moines takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 23.
Cost: $10 per child, ages 1 to 10; free for infants, adults and members. Admission at the door.

March 23: Eggstravaganza

Des Moines

Animal Rescue League of Iowa hosts Eggstravaganza for the goodest boys and girls this Easter in Des Moines. During the pups-only egg hunt, if your dog touches the plastic eggs with their nose, into your basket it goes. Plus, head over to Bailey’s Dog Park for off-leash time, freebies, yard games, a cash bar, a raffle prize and the chance for your pup to create their own painting of an Easter egg at the Petcasso booth. Check-in will be right outside the main doors, at the beginning of the walking trail. 
Cost: General admission is $10; digital photos are $10.

March 30: Family Easter

Urbandale

Living History Farms in Urbandale hosts a very special Family Easter event from 9 a.m. to noon, featuring traditional holiday activities with old-fashioned flair. In addition to ongoing egg hunts (which will be divided by age), the Easter event features farm animals, wagon rides, games, pics with the Easter Bunny, eats from local vendors and more. Plus, Living History Farms will offer an allergy-free egg hunt option.
Cost: $9 for those ages 2 and up; $8 for members.

March 30, April 6 and April 7: Egg Palooza

Cumming

Howell’s Greenhouse & Pumpkin Patch hosts a “chaos-free” Egg Palooza egg hunt. Howell’s will provide an egg carton to collect empty eggs during the all-day egg hunt (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), which is then redeemed for prizes. Every child will go home with a prize. The Easter event in Des Moines also features a playground, photo ops with the Easter Bunny, a bathtub train and much more.
Cost: $12 per child; $10 per adult. Tickets at the gate are $15 per person.

March 31: Easter at Summerset

Indianola

Join the Summerset Winery team for an afternoon of fun for the whole family as it hosts its annual Easter egg hunt, starting at 1 p.m. The winery will be hosting two hunts–one for those 20 and under and one for those 21-plus. The under-20 egg hunt will kick off at 1:30 p.m., with staggered start times based on age groups; those 21-plus can start hunting at 2 p.m.
Cost: Free to attend.
