While the Easter Bunny prepares his baskets, it’s time for you to celebrate all of the fun happening around Iowa in honor of the spring holiday. From massive egg hunts to bunny runs, Iowa is bursting with ways to help you and your little ones get eggcited for Easter. 

Easter Egg Hunt

Clive

Gather your kiddos and head over to Legacy Bank and Inhabit Iowa’s Easter Egg Hunt in Clive. The fun will include arts and crafts, professional photos with the Easter Bunny (or without for those who are not his biggest fan), food trucks and an egg hunt with traditional eggs full of candy and redeemable prizes hidden inside of specialty golden eggs. The event is free, except for food truck purchases, and takes place on Saturday, April 9.

Easter Bunny Express Train

Des Moines

On Saturday, April 9, the Easter Bunny Express Train will be waiting to hop you on over to the Easter Bunny with an hour-long train ride through Des Moines River Valley. The ride will feature an egg hunt throughout the train, in addition to some sweet treats for little ones. Photos with the awaiting Easter Bunny will also be available. Tickets are $20 per person, and the day starts at 10 a.m.

2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Saint Charles

Grab your favorite Easter basket and a hippity-hop on over to Saint Charles for the second-annual Easter Egg Hunt–featuring over 8,000 eggs! The fun will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, at the Talk Shop Lounge, and guests 12 and under can expect to enjoy the egg hunt, petting zoo, bites like hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch, games and much more fun. The event is free and open to the public.

Easter Extravaganza!

Cedar Rapids

An Easter Extravaganza! awaits in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, April 9, at the Usher’s Ferry Historic Village. The fun was created by local mothers, who know exactly what your little ones need. Guests can expect to enjoy spring coloring pages, light snacks and sips, a massive Easter egg hunt, visits with the bunny plus photos from a professional photographer (or your phone camera) and much more fun to enjoy from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free, except for the professional photos with the bunny for $18.

Hoppy Easter at Appleberry Orchards

Everyone’s favorite apple orchard, Appleberry Orchards, is throwing an Easter celebration on Sunday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $10, and the fun will include a petting zoo with goats, bunnies, chickens, lambs and more furry friends, spring-themed photos on the farm, picnic-style lunch and much more. The play area will also be open for the event, as well as the orchard’s on-site bakery.

Fairfax Easter Egg Dash

Fairfax

Located in Fairfax, locals and guests alike can find the annual Easter Egg Dash on Saturday, April 9, at 8 a.m. at the Fairfax Sports and Park Complex. The fun will feature free book giveaways from a traveling library (for both adults and kids), prize giveaways, an Easter egg hunt and a kid-friendly, short meter dash. The event is free and runs until 11 a.m.
