May 24 to May 27: Memorial Day Weekend at Lazy H Campground


Pitch a tent and stay awhile is the motto for Lazy H Campground’s Memorial Day weekend event lineup. On Saturday, May 25, enjoy a 5K color run and cart rides, and on Sunday, May 26, partake in cornhole tournaments and hayrack rides. Campers will enjoy on-site food trucks, a playground and a 50-acre fisherman’s haven stocked with freshwater fish, miles of hiking and more throughout the holiday weekend. May 25: Decoration Day + Historic Baseball at Living History Farms


Take a step back in time at Living History Farms in Urbandale this Memorial Day weekend in Iowa. On Saturday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., honor the history of Memorial Day, which began in 1868 as Decoration Day by showing what it would have looked like over 100 years ago. Historical interpreters will act out Decoration Day ceremony and procession at 1 p.m., followed by a historic baseball game played by the 1876 rules at 3 p.m. All activities are included with general admission. May 26: Rolling on the River Music Festival


Be sure to grab your lawn chair and head to this holiday weekend event that’s bound to be a rocking good time. Live music, a beer tent and delicious food vendors await on May 26, from noon to 10 p.m., at Riverfront Park. Adventureland Park

May 25 to May 27: Memorial Weekend Salute 


Buckle up. Get ready for a rip-roaring rush and a Memorial Day weekend in Iowa to remember at Adventureland Park. From Saturday, May 25, to Monday, May 27, military members, both veterans and active, will receive free admission. On May 18, Adventureland celebrates its 50th opening day. Cedar Rapids

The Avenue of Flags is an annual event in Cedar Rapids. More than 1,500 American flags donated by veterans’ families are on display from Saturday, May 25, through Monday, May 27, to honor veterans and all those who serve in the military. May 27: Iowa Gold Star Military Museum Memorial Day Event 


Join the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum in honoring the service of veterans at its annual Memorial Day event on Monday, May 27, from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Activities include live music, vendors, complimentary breakfast from 6 to 9 a.m., and a blood drive from 7 a.m. to noon.
