Springfest in Riverview Park in Des Moines is a free, all-ages-friendly blues music festival hosted in honor of the annual holiday. The event kicks off at 2 p.m. with a multitude of live music performances, fare and libations from vendors and food trucks, art vendors and a lot more fun. The event is open to the public and takes place on May 29.

2022 Memorial Day Run
The Memorial Day Run in Des Moines is back for its third year in honor of Memorial Day on May 30. The run (or walk) will include a 5K to 10K trek with a gold medal and bib waiting for participants at the finish line. The run is $18 per person, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting military members and first responders.

North Iowa Band Festival
With 60,000 people expected in attendance, the North Iowa Band Festival has returned for its 83rd year for its Memorial Day weekend celebration from May 26 to May 30. The weekend event will feature fun for all ages, including a massive parade, live music, sweet treats, art from local vendors, games and more. The festival is free and open to the public.

Memorial Day Weekend Whiteout Party
Back for its ninth year at the Nightingale Cocktail Lounge, the Memorial Day Weekend Whiteout Party has returned for an all-night-long celebration (white attire encouraged, not required). The fun will start on Sunday, May 29, at 10 p.m. and will carry on with your favorite music from DJs, late-night sips, bites and dancing until 2 a.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased online.
