Restaurant of the Week: 350 First

350 First has the best seats in the house when it comes to a bird’s-eye view of Downtown Cedar Rapids. Located on the 16th floor of DoubleTree by Hilton, the modern and contemporary restaurant offers lunch, dinner and breakfast service not only to hotel guests, but the general public.

350 First, which opened in June of 2013, offers not only jaw-dropping views but equally wonderful cuisine as well. Whether you like wings, sandwiches, seafood, steak or anything in between, 350 First has got you covered. The hotel eatery is the ideal location for impressing out-of-town visitors, sealing that business deal, catching up with friends or celebrating a special occasion.

Coming off of the elevator on the 16th Floor of DoubleTree by Hilton, you are greeted with a flood of natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows, a sleek furniture design and multiple dining options. These options include two sides of the dining room, one facing downtown and the other facing the Cedar River, and a soft seating area next to the bar with a flat-screen TV for a casual meal or happy hour with friends. Speaking of happy hour, 350 First offers specialty bar bites and beer and wine deals from 4 to 6 p.m. (One of those bar bites includes divine cheese curds, which are lightly fried to perfection.)

The menu slightly differs between lunch and dinner and is bound to kick the taste buds into overdrive. The affordable lunch menu offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees while the dinner menu includes some of the same lunch items but with more entrees, like the mouthwatering mushroom-crusted salmon. This showstopper includes a white bean puree, pancetta, wilted spinach and a chianti vinaigrette. What’s a first-rate dining experience without a dessert, right? 350 First has that covered with several options including the signature DoubleTree cookie infused into a cannoli filling in a flaky shell.

Not able to stop by for lunch or dinner? No problem! 350 First offers an extensive breakfast menu as well. While some of the items might appear to be your basic breakfast staples, the presentation and taste is well above par. It might be difficult landing on a decision as the restaurant has something for every breakfast palate, ranging from eggs, meat and potato platters to omelets to sweet and decadent pancakes and French toast.

If you are visiting Cedar Rapids or have been a lifelong resident, do not miss out on the incredible experience that is 350 First. Best of all, you do not have to be a hotel guest to take in the aerial views all while savoring every last bite.
