Hometown: Cedar Falls, IA

First job: The Core Comic Book Store

Favorite ways to spend your free time in IA: I love laying down a blanket at parks and soaking up sunshine while I watch my kiddos play. In my down time, I love to pole dance. Nothing compares to the feeling of flying through the air!

Your biggest accomplishment and why: To this day, so many people have no idea why someone would pay the prices I charge to do photos for themselves. It’s crazy to think about! Two months ago, I added all-inclusive travel sessions to my price list, and I’ve booked two travel sessions as I type this. I have tan lines from a week-long stay in Alaska for a session, and I’m looking forward to leaving for New Mexico in a couple of days for another session. Traveling is something I always dreamt of doing with the business, but to see it come to life is an experience like none other. My recent Alaska trip was also my first-ever solo traveling experience, and I’m so thankful I got to experience it.

The biggest obstacle you overcame: For many years, I had side jobs to supplement my income while my business got up and running. Once I got to the point my side jobs were stopping me from doing more with my business, I stopped working to do photography full time. That was two years ago. With COVID and the economy the way it is, there were many scary moments along the way. I refused to go back to working for someone else and pushed through it.

Someone who inspires you and why: Alaynna Marr. For so long, I was so afraid of artificial lighting, and her cinematic style of boudoir has been my biggest inspiration when it comes to my style of shooting and the lighting/textures I use. Doing a session with her is on my bucket list!

Advice to someone pursuing a career path in what you do: Above all else, keep in mind that you are holding someone’s body image in your hand. Education is key with this industry! Take time to get to know it before you hop in and start offering sessions.

Favorite quote: “Pressure makes diamonds.”

Something someone would be surprised to learn about you: I’m actually incredibly camera shy! I really push myself when it comes to taking selfies or making TikToks.

What makes someone fabulous: How they deal with their circumstances. We are all walking through this world with so much trauma, but how we choose to learn and grow from it is what separates us from those that continue to stay in their trauma responses. Life begins after your comfort zone! And you are the greatest investment you’ll ever make.
