Favorite ways to spend family time in IA: We love the bike trails. So you can catch us most weeks taking a bike ride for brunch, ice cream or pizza.
Your most rewarding motherhood moment: I hear it a lot with kids activities: “Aren’t you glad it’s almost over?” And honestly I’m a little sad because this is one of the reasons I love motherhood. Seeing a young child so excited about an activity. The happiness that spreads across their face. The innocence of it. Like in that moment this is one of the happiest moments of their life. So I will never be glad that it’s almost over.
Biggest challenge as a mom: Not being able to be there for every moment. It’s hard to navigate activities that overlap between children sometimes, but my husband and I always work together to make sure one of us is there. We also have a great supporting village that is always willing to shuttle, grab a bite to eat or put on some dance makeup!
A mother who inspires you and why: I cannot possibly pick one. I have so much respect for my mother, grandmothers, aunts, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, teachers and friends. I take a little piece of each of them with me every step of the way in this journey.
Best piece of advice for a new mom: It’s not always going to be like this. You will miss those late nights, those early mornings, those long days of activities.
Your biggest hope for your children: That they find happiness. In life, relationships, careers, activities and education.
How are you celebrating Mother’s Day? Hopefully the weather warms up for some planting! And just enjoy a few moments with each kid, so probably some extra cuddles during nap time for the youngest, doing YouTube experiments with the middle, and enjoying a Starbucks refresher with my oldest on the way to dance practice.
