How did your love story begin? Ace and Leslie met circa 2005. Ace was (still is!) Leslie’s brother’s best friend and fraternity brother at Cornell College. Leslie: Our love story began in 2009 at a mutual friend’s wedding. Neither of us had dates but went in a friend group to the wedding. My brother was also in this friend group, and not fond of Ace and my flirtatious ways! We kissed for the first time that night and I ran away, afraid if my brother found out, we would ruin their friendship. We now call it the “kiss and run.”
Favorite thing about one another: Leslie: My favorite thing about Ace is his kindness. He can walk into any room, remember everyone’s name he encountered, and treats everyone with love and respect. Ace has a heart that touches many souls! Ace: My favorite thing about Leslie is her passion and honesty. She tells it like she sees it! Leslie sets the bar high for herself and others around her, always doing what she can to bring out the best in those around her. Definitely the life of the party and not shy about it!
Favorite date night: Leslie: We love to be social butterflies. A great date night out together for us is a nice dinner and drinks, followed by Ace’s killer dance moves!
Favorite tradition you have as a couple: We tend to be a very non-traditional couple. One tradition we have is lighting the menorah for Hanukkah while putting up our holiday tree. To most, that seems very odd, to us, it’s what makes our holiday tradition so special.
What does your happily ever after look like? Health, wealth and pure happiness together with our golden retriever. Future goals are to expand our family, not sure if that’s two- or four-legged just yet. We want to purchase a second home for our entire family to gather and escape the Iowa winters. After 14 years together, our wishes are to keep our adventures going.
