Fab Couples: Iowa

Daisey Anglow & David Wilson

Daisey Anglow, naturopathic doctor; David Wilson, osteopathic doctor

Homebase: Mason City

How did your love story begin? Daisey: We actually met through a dating app, about one week before my birthday. I joked that I have been doing this for a while and I can’t be single in my 30’s so he has to ask me out.

David: I replied that I would ask her out before the end of the year.

Daisey: Surely enough he did. Well, technically he asked me out around my birthday in December, and I didn’t hear from him again until the night before we actually met. Maybe some women would have been offended by that but I thought oh well, let’s see where this goes and at most I get out of the house.

Daisey: Monday, Dec. 28, 2021, we met at a park in Phoenix. David planned an outing at Japanese Friendship Garden but as most places are closed on Mondays and we met during the pandemic, he pulls out a blanket from his backpack and we sat on the grass and talked masked and all from noon to 8 p.m. As it got darker and colder, I thought we should leave but he decides to take us to the next location he planned. It was an ax-throwing bar which again was closed because it’s Monday night in Phoenix. We walked the city until we end up at a little wine bar under his apartment where they have wine on tap, board games and great jazz music. The place was empty due to the pandemic. We played a board game called Sh*t Happens and I won, rightfully so. He serenated me an Elton john song.

David: The song was “Tiny Dancer.”

Daisey: Yes, and then we kissed goodnight, and I drove back to my apartment to hang out with my mom since it was the holidays.

David: I checked that she got home safe and said I hoped to see her in the new year and within four days we were going on a hike somewhere in Scottsdale. We have been together ever since.

Favorite thing about one another: David: Daisey is so loving, an amazing chef. She is selfless, determined, extremely driven and that’s not only admirable, it’s contagious.

Daisey: David is ambitious, fun-loving, athletic, a dreamer, cultured and super energetic. His mood is never down. It’s so fantastic.

Favorite date night: Daisey: Making dinner at home together, while we sip on good wine.

David: Maybe watch an old movie while we hang out with the dogs and play board games.

Favorite tradition you have as a couple: Picnics. We do it as often as we can, in as many settings as possible. We picnicked by golf courses, local park, our living room and even our bedroom as we hide from our dogs.

What does your happily ever after look like? Daisey: We certainly look forward to being more settled with work. I have my virtual medical practice that is growing, but I also want to have a family and make time to be both mom and a business owner.

David: I always say I can’t wait to coach little league, so definitely looking to grow our family and lots of travels and time with our parents and friends.

Daisey: Agreed. I feel like we both missed out on so much being away for medical school and residency. I look forward to some steadiness with knowing where we will live, but also adventure. We both enjoy traveling so there is certainly going to be a lot of that.

David: And one more dog, at least. We have two but one more would be perfect.
