October 1 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Take in a genuine Main Street festival and participate in the celebrations that have brought thousands of people to Anamosa since 1989. Visit Pumpkinfest on Saturday, Oct. 1 to experience numerous food and craft booths, children’s activities, one of Iowa’s biggest parades, and of course, huge pumpkins!
Kick off your October in downtown Anamosa, better known as the pumpkin capital of Iowa. Not only will there be pumpkin carving, rolling and tossing competitions, but Pumpkinfest is notorious for its humongous pumpkins. You can also vote in the chili competition and savor some delicious food while strolling down Main Street. Then make your way to the petting zoo to cuddle up with furry friends before heading to the parade to collect your first sweet treats of the fall season.
And if you think you’re a barbecue expert, don’t miss the Smoke ‘n’ Pumpkins Barbecue Competition. Vote on the best smoked chicken and fall-off-the-bone pork ribs, made by competing teams. Or join the competition if you’re up for a challenge. The hefty payout to the winning team is over a thousand dollars.
Admission is free.
